Our Work

Too often, it is too easy to think that just a roll-in shower, a shower chair, and some grab bars will solve a problem.

However - not usually that simple.  Every situation is unique, and every situation deserves to be evaluated on its own merits.

For us at Affordable Adaptive Solutions, the first step is accurately identifying the full range of issues, the second is developing a smart accessibility strategy, and third is matching the right products to individual needs.

Please take a look at a few of our examples of some work we've done in the past.  We are happy to come and provide a singlular grab bar all the way to a full bathroom remodel.  No job is too big or too small.

Accessible Bathroom, shower grab bars
Recently we installed a series of grab bars in order to increase bathing safety for our client.

A well placed grab bar can mean all the difference between bathroom safety and a severe bathroom accident.

Grab bars can be a great stepping stone to increasing bathroom safety before needing more costly adjustments and retrofits.  Sometimes one grab bar is necessary or like this system where multiple grab bars placed around the shower.

When we install grab bars we have the client step through the motions of  their routine marking and measuring to the proper height so the grab bars are installed specifically to them and their needs.
"Our team would like to thank you and your team for pulling off the near impossible for our clients...your attention to detail to the finished product, and compassion for the families exemplifies what we do"

-Accessible Dreams
Easy access in and out of a home, patio, or yard can mean all the world to a person with mobility issues.  It can be a world of difference to be able enjoy a patio, a yard, and enjoy it with family members and friends.

After speaking with our client and their caregivers we devised and designed a ramp and railing system to allow them access to their patio, driveway, and yard.  In conjunction with another contractor who built the block patio and surrounding landing we not only built a functional accessible patio and ramp but also made sure that it matched the decor of the existing home.

Once the wooden railing and ramp weather for one year the wood can be stained or painted to further accent the design of the home.

When looking a project sometimes multiple areas of a home may need to be modified or renovated.  This client not only needed a doorway made wheelchair accessible but also required some bathroom modifications as well.  This whole home concept is not unfamiliar to Affordable Adaptive Solutions, we speak with our client as well as their caregivers to ensure we create a fully accessible strategy which may include more than one room, and may even include outside the home as well.

This concept we created for this client included a "Star Trek" style biparting barn door.  This allows mobility devices easy access in home from room to room.   This automatic door has the deluxe controls which include a timed open and close feature, two button openers on either side of the biparting doors, and a toggle switch option with on/off/hold-to-open feature.  The hold-to-open feature is a great option to add on due to its ability to keep the door open during parties, moving, or any other event one would need the door at the open position.

The bathroom modification includes an accessible shower, fold up shower chair, and accessible sink.  The client appreciated that no only was the bathroom functional, allowing them to take a shower unassisted but also that they were able to find decorative pieces that accent their home.

We spoke to Mr. V about his daily routines, his challenges, and his goals, we also spoke with his caregivers about their concerns.  We measured the available space and examined all utilities.  At that point, we were able to create a bathroom strategy concept.

After reviewing the concept with Mr. V. and his caregivers, we refined it to create the finished strategy, complete with the details that will allow him safety and comfort.  Then began the work of finding the right products to deliver the best solutions and to mesh with the style of Mr. V's home.

Now that the project is completed, Mr. V is finally able to shower again for the first time in years.  His bathroom meets all of his needs and is safe for him and for his caregivers.  Plus, it is beautiful!

"All questions and concerns were addressed ... especially in a manner that we understood"
Grab bars are more than just assistive product when getting up and down from a toilet.  A few well placed grab bars around a home, (in more places than just the bathroom) can mean all the difference to a person .

At Affordable Adaptive Solutions we strive to ensure that every client and caregiver is given the exact personalized solution they require to enjoy day to day lift activities.

Due to an accident our client lost their eyesight, it is important to evaluate the disability first to see what types of adaptations would be necessary versus unnecessary.  We explored where they most often walked around in their house, analyzing their day to day movement and activities, studying where possible safety situations could arise.  We then explored different solutions to devise the best, safest, and convenient way for our client to be able to walk around their home.

It would appear the abundance of hand rails would be over kill.  But in this situation the guide rail system we devised for this home allowed our client to travel around the house unassisted and safely allowing for a level of independence they hadn't had since before the accident.
Not only are the handrails useful they are decorative and were designed to accent the existing decor of the home.

Entering and exiting a home is not often something a person thinks about; those with mobility issues this situation can be tantamount to climbing a mountain.  Affordable Adaptive Solutions is aware how important it is to be able to safely enter and exit your home.  We devise personalized plans for each client thought our accessible design and consulting.

Sometimes a ramp to enter a home is not  the best option sometimes due to topography, or the size of a yard, or the height difference between the ground and the home would make a ramp far too long.  Sometimes a lift or elevator is the best choice.

For this client we explored many different options for them before deciding a single unit lift from ground to porch would be the best choice for them. We strive to create the best, safest, and smart solutions for our clients.
